Automatic Favico Triple Date with Moonphase from the mid 1950s. Most triple calendar watches from this era were manual wind but this watch has the very desirable and rare Automatic Bidynator Felsa 693 movement, it is a very interesting and collectable timepiece. The watch has four case side reset pushers which set moon, day, month and date, all are working correctly (with complicated movements of this era it is very important to never push the reset buttons in the few hours before or after midnight to avoid damage as the gears start to engage). All functions turn over daily as designed and watch works well and keeps time on the wrist. The lightly patinaed original cream coloured dial with gold tone and red hands presents very nicely for a circa 70 year old watch! Watch is housed in a gold filed case with steel back and is on a gf stretch bracelet. The This watch measures 33 mm wide excluding the crown x 40 mm lug to lug x 13 mm thick. Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow “1957” automatic chronometer chronograph ref. 3551.20.00 circa early to mid 2000’s, this model was first offered in 2002. This watch was recently serviced and is in perfect working condition, it features a beautiful white dial complemented by blued steel hour markers and hands which are a striking blue color when they reflect light. The watch is in good physical condition, with some very minor scuff marks. It comes with the original Omega box and instruction booklet (no card). The automatic Omega caliber 3303 column wheel chronograph movement, with date a 6 o’clock was serviced (sept 25) six months before we acquired it, it is working perfectly and ready to wear. Watch has it’s original Omega stainless steel bracelet with deployment clasp which fits a 19 cm (7 1/2 inch) wrist and has a micro adjustment.
The Speedmaster was originally introduced in 1957 as a racing watch but is better remembered as the first watch on the moon, worn on the wrist and used as a tool of the Apollo 11 astronauts that landed and walked on the moon in 1969. Since that time there have been many versions of the Speedmaster, it is known as one of Omega’s most iconic watch lines of all time. When the Speedmaster Broad Arrow 1957 ref. 3551.20.00 was launched in 2002, the watch marked the latest interesting homage to the history of the iconic Speedmaster collection. Notably familiar with classic vintage-inspired attributes seen in its namesake “broad arrow” handset, 42mm steel case with twisted lugs, and highly legible tri-compax dial, all of which derive from original models from 1957. The case back has the embossed Omega Seahorse emblem in the middle with the words Broad Arrow inscribed in Continue reading “#5928 Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow chronograph – serviced”

1950’s Watch Advertisement

This is a fine example of USA made Hamilton Sherman tank case wristwatch in, less common, White Gold Filled case with lightly patinaed sterling silver dial with rhodium plated 18K gold markers and numerals. Although The Hamilton Sherman watch was only officially released in 1953 and only offered for one year it is dated by serial number to 1952. I don’t know for sure but it would make sense that some 1953 models were actually released and on offer for Christmas 1952 and the serial number shows that the movement was made fairly early in the production run (first 14%), in any case this is a 1953 model which was produced in 1952. The movement is an American made high grade 19 jewel caliber 753, marked USA on movement, number 14112 of a total production of 103400. The watch keeps very good time and is super clean and was reported by previous owner to have been serviced recently but actual service date in unknown. White gold filled 50’s vintage Hamilton watches are not often seen, this is a great find! Watch comes on a 16 mm Hersch Lizardlook leather strap. Epos is a high quality Swiss made luxury brand and the watch has a simply gorgeous channeled dial resembling the night sky. To finish off the impression, there is a stationary moon phase feature at the 6, showing the changing moon phases daily. The day and month are asymmetrically placed in apertures following the channels on the dial. This is a very impressive looking luxury piece which is solidly built and running accurately on the wrist. Four calendar correctors are embedded in the case sides. The bracelet has screw down steel bars at the lugs. 1970’s Vulcain Advertisement

Text from 1970 Vulcain Ad “a fine watch product of Jules Jurgensen Corp.”

Vintage Jules Jurgensen Nautical Alarm Watch circa 1970 with attention grabbing multicolor original dial. The orange, red and black spiral design scale on dial is used to calculate decompression stop time required when diver is ascending from various depths and the rotating 60 minute bezel is used to see time-lapse. This Jules Jurgensen timepiece is the rarer version of the nearly identical and well renowned twin, the Vulcain Nautical Alarm of the same period. At first glance it may appear that JJ stole the design from Vulcain but in fact Vulcain was owned by Jules Jurgensen, as referenced in the text from 1970 print ad above. It seems that the association was not often referenced, normally they used the familiar Vulcan branding for alarm watches with no mention of the Jules Jurgensen ownership. Not many of this watches were made with the Jules Jurgensen branding. This watch is massive for a circa 1970 watch at a commanding 42mm across excluding the crown. It operates on a manual MSR S2 movement which has 2 separate winding barrels. It also has a bi-rotational outer dive bezel. The orange, red and black dial is quite something to see with its compression scales – this example is pristine too. The white painted hands are original to the watch. The case back fits snugly but has no factory markings, I believe this is the original inner case back but originally there would also have been an outer cover which is not present. This does not effect the timekeeping of watch but it should not be seen as waterproof and it should not be used in or near water. Both the case and outer bezel are in very nice vintage condition. The watch runs well and keeps accurate time, and the alarm buzzes when triggered from a fully wound state. The crown manually winds the time barrel in a counter clockwise direction and the alarm barrel in a clockwise direction. This movement caliber allows the time to be set forward only, and the alarm hand to be set backward only – both of which to avoid damage to the movement. The push button above crown is used to activate set and on mode for alarm, when pushed from the winding position the crown moves out to alarm set mode and turns alarm on and Continue reading “#5863 Jules Jurgensen Nautical Alarm Watch ref G96225 circa 1970 vintage”
