Great looking antique Illinois wrist watch in a white GF double hinged case, made in USA circa 1927. This period marked the golden age of American watchmaking. which reached its heyday during the 1920s to the 1950s before most production shifted to Switzerland. The serial number (5025998) indicates this was one of the last watches produced by Illinois before the sale of the company to Hamilton the same year. At the end of 1927 Illinois Watch company was purchased by Hamilton and the first serial number used in 1928 was 5100000. Watches with the Illinois name were made throughout the great depression and up until the end of the second world war. Antique 1920s era Omega cushion case watch with wire lugs. The manual wind 15 jewel movement works well and keeps time. The movement says Omega Watch co, 2 adjustments, Swiss, and the serial number. The watch measures just shy of 30mm wide excluding the crown, ideal for a small wrist. The military style porcelain enamel dial has its original radium lumed numerals and shows 1 long but ever so faint hairline, and no visible chips or cracks.
