Great looking antique Illinois wrist watch in a white GF double hinged case, made in USA circa 1927. This period marked the golden age of American watchmaking. which reached its heyday during the 1920s to the 1950s before most production shifted to Switzerland. The serial number (5025998) indicates this was one of the last watches produced by Illinois before the sale of the company to Hamilton the same year. At the end of 1927 Illinois Watch company was purchased by Hamilton and the first serial number used in 1928 was 5100000. Watches with the Illinois name were made throughout the great depression and up until the end of the second world war.
